SonicWall ensured the security and connectivity of the South American Games
SonicWall , a cybersecurity provider , was the ally in connectivity and security for the South American Sports Organization ( ODESUR ), which , together with the Paraguayan Olympic Committee , the National Sports Secretariat and ASU2022 , hosted the XII South American Games .
The two challenges of this event focused on connectivity and security . André L ’ heureux , ICT Network Coordinator , ASU2022 , said :
“ There was a significant situation because we were just coming out of the pandemic and at that time many technology equipment manufacturers were facing logistical and production issues . SonicWall was able to provide equipment quickly , reliably and with quality – with the support of Nexsys and Parasur .”
For the connectivity challenge , the solution designed by ASU2022 with the support of partner Parasur took into account coverage in 11 venues across the country , 25 venues in total , with 75 % concentrated in Asunción , the main venue of the XII South American Games , but with reach in Encarnación , Ciudad del Este and at the Itaipu Dam ( Brazilian side ), where some competitions were held .
To achieve this , ASU2022 , in collaboration with Parasur , implemented the NSa4700 firewalls with built-in wireless controller , NSa Advance ; several SonicWave Secure Wireless Access Points from the 200 and 400 series ; and the NSa 2700 Firewall .
Ultimately , the SonicWall firewall provided traffic control for both incoming and outgoing traffic to optimize bandwidth and manage network capacity . This way , priority was given to streaming traffic for broadcasting television coverage of the various competitions .
